Uploading with FTP
There are a number of shareware and freeware ftp programs for example FTP Explorer and AceFTP. A simple option though is to use Microsoft Internet Explorer
Open an Internet Explorer browser, and type in ftp.yourdomain into the "address bar" and hit the enter key. (If this does nothing, and if you don"t get a little window up after that asking for your login and password, you may need to upgrade your Internet Explorer browser to 5.5 or higher. You can download Internet Explorer 5.5 or the latest IE browser here.
A small window may pop up asking for your login name and your password. If this does not the you will first have to go to the FILE menu and click Login As...
Type in your login name and password, and click 'Log On'
After you enter your login and Password, you should be taken to a page that is your main upload area. View the image below to see what the main upload area looks like:
This is your main upload area. All files you upload must go in to the www or public_html folder if you are on a Linux Cpanel account. If you are on a Windows Account you will need to put these directly into the WWWROOT directory if present or if not present directly into the directory you log in to. So whatever HTML or Image file you upload into the this folder, will have a direct link to: http://www.yourdomain.com/file_you_uploaded.jpg OR .html or anything else.
Uploading files
DRAG (click on the file(s) you want to upload and move) the files into the FTP WINDOW. INTO the actual window. After you drag them, let go of the mouse click, and the files will transfer.
Creating folders
First things first, RIGHT click on your IE FTP window. Select the New > option, then select "Folder". A new folder named "New folder" will come up. Rename the folder to whatever you want. Open the folder (double click on it after it is named). Select your files to upload into it and DRAG the files into the window of the new web folder.
